1. Who We Are

bedtimecalc.net ("we," "our," "us") operates the website at bedtimecalc.net, providing free, science-based sleep calculators and educational content. For questions about this policy, contact us at guptaaryan583@gmail.com.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

By default, we do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or any contact information
• Account credentials (there are no accounts on this site)
• The sleep times or health data you enter into our calculators
• Your location beyond what your browser shares with any website (IP-based country, if analytics is enabled)
• Payment information (all tools are free)

3. localStorage — Calculator Preferences

Our calculators use your browser's localStorage to remember your last settings — for example, the time you entered or which calculator mode you used. This data:

• Is stored entirely on your device
• Never leaves your browser
• Is never transmitted to our servers
• Can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data for bedtimecalc.net

localStorage keys we use: sc-mode (calculator mode), sc-time (last entered time), theme (light/dark preference), cookie-consent (your cookie choice). None of these contain personal health data.

4. Analytics — Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site in aggregate — which tools are most useful, where users drop off, and how to improve. GA4 is loaded only with your explicit consent via our cookie consent banner.

If you consent to analytics, GA4 may collect:

• Pages visited and time on page
• Approximate country (from IP address — IP is anonymized by Google)
• Device type, browser, and operating system
• Referring website
• Events such as button clicks and calculator usage (no personal health data)

If you select "Essential Only" or "Decline" in the cookie banner, GA4 does not load. You can change your consent at any time by clearing your browser's cookies and localStorage for this site, then making a new selection when the banner reappears.

Google's privacy policy applies to data processed by GA4: policies.google.com/privacy.

5. Cookies

We use two categories of cookies:

Essential Cookies (always active)

• cookie-consent — Records your cookie preference so we do not ask repeatedly. Stored in localStorage. No expiry.
• theme — Remembers your light/dark mode preference. Stored in localStorage. No expiry.

Analytics Cookies (consent required)

• _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics identifiers, used to distinguish unique visitors. Expire after 2 years and 13 months respectively.

We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or third-party remarketing cookies. There are no affiliate tracking cookies.

6. Third-Party Services

Beyond Google Analytics (consent-gated), we use:

• Google Fonts — Loads the Inter typeface from Google's CDN. Google may log your IP address per their standard server logging. We use the standard font embed; no additional data is shared. See Google Fonts attribution.

We do not use:

• Facebook Pixel or any Meta advertising tools
• Twitter/X tracking pixels
• Hotjar or other session recording tools
• Affiliate tracking services
• Email marketing platforms

7. Data Retention

Because we do not collect personal data, there is nothing to retain or delete on our servers. localStorage data exists on your device for as long as you keep it there. GA4 data (if consented) is retained in Google's systems for 14 months, as configured in our GA4 account.

8. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent legislation:

• Right to access — You can request what data we hold about you.
• Right to erasure — You can request deletion of any data we hold.
• Right to object — You can object to processing at any time.
• Right to withdraw consent — Withdraw analytics consent by clearing cookies at any time.
• Right to lodge a complaint — You may complain to your local data protection authority.

Since we hold no personal data by default (beyond what GA4 processes with consent), most GDPR rights can be exercised by clearing your browser data for this site. For formal requests, contact guptaaryan583@gmail.com.

Our legal basis for analytics processing is consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). We rely on consent, not legitimate interest, for analytics — meaning analytics is strictly opt-in.

9. Data Sales and Marketing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to any third party. We have no email list. We do not send newsletters, promotional emails, or marketing communications. We do not engage in behavioral advertising.

10. Children's Privacy
